About the Wolves

Who are the wolves at Wolf Park?

Main Pack Wolves

• Tristan is the alpha male. He is the biggest wolf in the pack. He likes to lie on his back and be scratched. Sometimes he falls out of trees.
• Ayla is one of the puppies born to Tristan and Erin in 2004. She is kind of low ranking but still gets to hang out with "the boys" every now and again.
• Kailani is one of the puppies born to Tristan and Erin in 2004. She is a beautiful and graceful wolf with gorgeous gold eyes. She is very gentle and quiet. She has risen to the position of alpha female.
• Renki is one of the puppies born to Tristan and Erin in 2004. Renki wants to be alpha male someday and is already trying out for the position. This does not make Tristan very happy.
• Ruedi is one of the puppies born to Tristan and Erin in 2004. Ruedi loves people, and greets everyone with a happy smile -- except when he is awakened from a nap. Then he gets a little crabby.
• Wotan is one of the puppies born to Erin and Chetan in 2005. Wotan loves to smile at people and charm them. He likes to put his feet on people.
• Wolfgang is one of the puppies born to Erin and Chetan in 2005. Wolfgang wants to be his half-brother Renki when he grows up. While Wotan is charming people, Wolfgang likes to sneak up behind them and put his cold nose on them!

Happy Pack Wolves

• Erin is the alpha female. She is gentle and large and gray. She is Tristan's sister and is relatively shy.
• Chetan is the alpha male. He is also big, and a beautiful gray color. He is starting to "fade" to white. He has pretty eyes and likes to "kiss" people face to face.

Alpha Pack Wolves

• Seneca is the alpha male. He is a small gray wolf with a lower tooth which sticks out. Seneca likes to steal things that humans are holding.
• Marion is the alpha female. She likes to lick humans' faces and kiss a lot. She is very small and agile and can climb trees.
• Miska is the beta male. Miska is a black wolf who is slowly "silvering" to gray as he gets older. He enjoys playing with human toys just like his brother Seneca.

Pillow Pack Wolves

• Apollo (nicknamed "Pillow") is the alpha male. He is big and black and silly. His fur is starting to fade to silver. He enjoys patting people on the head with his paws.
• Karin is the alpha female. She is athletic and agile and good with people. She is a very beautiful and slender wolf.

Omega Pack Wolves

• Kiri is the alpha male. He is the biggest wolf at Wolf Park. He is black and silver like his brother, Apollo. He has a kink in his tail, which makes it look like a little spiral.
• Socrates is the beta male. He likes to argue with his brother, Kiri, and puff himself up until he looks all fur. He likes to pull humans' hair if they are not paying attention.

Single Wolves

• Orca is a grey male wolf. He was paralyzed in November '97 but can almost walk again now. He enjoys food and licking faces. He is a very beautiful wolf who is fading to white.
• Eclipse is a grey female wolf born in 1997. She is Orca and Karin's daughter. She went to the Turtle Back Zoo as a puppy but came back to Wolf Park in 2004. She is shy but very pretty.
• Echo is a gray female wolf born in 1992. She went to a zoo in New York as a puppy but eventually outlived the zoo's exhibit and got to come back here in 2005. She is very friendly but can be a little obnoxious sometimes.

Other Animals

Foxes

• Basil is a white-phase male red fox. He is very friendly and likes to climb on people's heads and squeak at them. He occasionally puts his mouth on people just to see what they will do.
• Devon is a silver-phase female red fox. She is kind of silly and wags her tail a lot. When excited, she will climb on visitors' heads and pee.
• Ember is a naturally marked female red fox. She is fiery and beautiful and defends her food fiercely. She is less fond of people than are Devon and Basil.

New Guinea Singing Dogs

• Kodi is our male singing dog. He is about eleven years old. He and his friend Katia are on loan from the Columbian Park Zoo in Lafayette, Indiana, while the Zoo renovates the dogs' enclosure.
• Katia is our female singing dog. She is about eight. She is very shy but loves to hang around with Kodi. He "protects" her from the scary humans!

Coyote

• Wild Bill passed away of old age (he was eightteen!) in 2005. We hope to get more coyotes in 2006!
